Obituary of Clarence C. Masto
Clarence C. "Chris" Masto, 79, of County Highway 106, passed away Wednesday morning at his home with his loving family at his side.
Born in Jeannette, PA on Oct. 6, 1931, the son of the late Emil and Laura Seymour Masto. He moved to Amsterdam as a child with his family and was a 1949 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Chris entered the US Army and served in the states and was discharged with the rank of Private First Class.
He began a lifelong career as a stone mason and bricklayer first as an apprentice with the union. In 1970 he founded the Masto Construction Company. His dedication to his profession and beautiful work can be found throughout this area. He retired a year ago due to his illness. Chris was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and at one time was a member of the Bigelow Weavers Asso. He will always be remembered for his hard work ethic and his love for family.
On Dec. 18, 1971 he was united in marriage to the former Patricia Sajta.
In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children; Jeffery Ardizzone of Sacramento, Ca., Christopher Masto of Mineola, L.I., and Valerie Masto of Gloversville; his sisters; Virginia Kosineski Brach of Adamstown, Md., Sarah George Stradone of Wheaton, Md. And Laura Brach of Ballston Lake; his brother, Paul Tilda Masto of Amsterdam ; a sister in law Fanny Masto of Amsterdam and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he lost two brothers, Howard and Emil Masto.
Services are Saturday at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Church. Fr. John Medwid, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in his name to the ALS Regional Center Of Albany in care of the funeral home office.
