Obituary of Eleanor I. Filbeck

Eleanor I. "Ellie" Filbeck, 81 of Truax Road, entered eternal rest on Thursday afternnon with her loving family and dear pets at her side. Born in Gloversville on June 6, 1929, she was the last surviving child of the late Philo and Florence Blood Hayner. She was employed as a private caregiver for several local families and also was a personal care aide at the Sanford Home For Women. Ellie also worked for a time at the Rainbow Barn. She loved dancing, music, cooking, playing dominoes , flea marketing and antique shopping. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed bird watching at her home in the Town Of Amsterdam. Ellie will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit and deep love for her family and extended family. She was the widow of Arthur L. Filbeck who passed away in 1974. She also lost her son, James Crouse. Ellie is survived by her sons; Raymond C. Crouse and Arthur Anita Filbeck, daughters; Debbie Peter Aldi-Boyd, Linda DiCaprio, Sandy Bob Lansing, and Jodi Filbeck and fiancé Chris Cook, all living locally; grandchildren; Jimmy Crouse, David Crouse, Andrew, Matthew, Daniel and Angie Aldi, Amy DiCaprio, A.J. and Danielle Filbeck and D.J. Hewitt; fifteen great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and her best friend Marianne Bellows. A service to celebrate Ellie's life will take place Monday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to SOCKS or Community Hospice Of Amsterdam both in care of the funeral home office.
