Obituary of Ida Landrio
Ida ?Edie? Landrio, 86, of Rockton Street, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 20, 1924 in Amsterdam, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Gargano DiScenza. She was a life long resident and attended local schools. Edie was first employed by Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam and later worked for Mohawk Sportswear in Amsterdam for twenty eight years until retiring in 1986.
She was a parishioner and daily communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Her faith was a very important aspect of her life. She was also a former member of the St. Michael?s Seniors.
Edie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a true passion for shopping. Edie was the life of any party. She was loyal, loving and kind. Edie was loved by all who were blessed to be a part of her life.
On November 25, 1951 she married Samuel ?Sal? Robert Landrio who passed away February 18, 2007. Survivors include a son Dennis L. Landrio and his wife Cathy; four grandchildren, Michael Landrio of Schenectady, Kyle Landrio of Amherst, MA; Maria Loux and her husband Kyle of Amsterdam and Danielle DiGiacomo of Amsterdam; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edie was predeceased by her brothers Frank and Nick DiScenza and her sisters Angie Greenspan and Phyllis Gizzo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 7, 2011, at 9:15 at St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Michael?s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edie?s memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny?s Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
