Obituary of Sandra J. Maye
Sandra J. Gottobed Maye on Thursday February 3, 2011 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on January 2, 1940 the daughter of Edna Webster and the late Harold Gottobed.
Sandra is was a graduate of Broadalbin High School class of 1957. She has received a bachelors degree from Springfield College as well as two masters degrees for the College of St. Rose.
She worked for many years for United Cerebral Palsy as a special education teacher.
Sandra enjoyed gardening, reading, and vacationing in Wildwood, NJ. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, Kristina Wiltey Terry of Cobleskill, Mareike Larson Rich of Harford, Alieca Helferich James of Whitesboro Robert Maye Sarah of Ephratah, her mother, Edna Webster and a brother Wayne Gottobed.
Additional survivors include grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Wiltey, James and Sean Helferich, nieces Debra and Tina Gottobed, nephew Wayne Gottobed and several great nieces, nephews and three half siblings.
In addition to her father, Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Maye.
Friends and relatives are invited and may call on from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday February 7, 2011 at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin. A prayer service will be conducted immediately following calling hours at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morrette officiating. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Rural Cemetery in the spring.
