Obituary of Paul J. Cornell
Paul J. Cornell, age 54, of Gloversville passed away on Friday February 4, 2011 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville.
He was born in Gloversville, NY on October 22, 1956 the son of Marilyn Archinal Cornell and the late John Lester Cornell.
Paul worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for many years.
On July 6, 1991, Paul married Jane Lizor Cornell. The have shared 19 years united in marriage.
Paul loved to read, watch his beloved Detroit Red Wings, diving and being outdoors. He was a member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, Johnstown Moose Lodge, Fulton County Rock & Mineral Club. Additionally, Paul was a scuba instructor, past president and current member of the New York State Divers Association and the president of the Adirondack Aquanautical Society. One of Paul's proudest moments was being named Diver of the Year by Under the Sea.
In addition to his wife, Jane and his mother Marilyn, Paul is survived by a daughter, Siobhan Cornell of Gloversville, a mother in law, Genevieve Lizor, 2 brothers in law, James Lizor Anne, Francis Lizor Jr. Paula, an aunt Bonnie Brown Richard a great uncle, James McFeeley and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by a father in law Francis Lizor Sr. and his maternal grandparents Margaret and William Archinal.
Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday February 7, 2011 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 8, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Paul to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the Adirondack Aquanautical Society, C/O Robert Way, 5 Terry Street, Johnstown, NY 12095.
