Obituary of Keith F. Whitehead

Mr. Keith F. Whitehead, 88, passed away February 16, 2011 at the Wells House with his family by his side, where he had been a resident for the past three years. Born in Marathon, NY on March 18, 1922 he was the son of the late L. Robert and Elma Wheaton Whitehead. In high school, Keith excelled in sports and vocal music, as well as setting records in basketball. During WWII, he proudly served with the United States Navy as a radar operator aboard a Destroyer Escort. He sang professionally with a band and in a barbershop quartet for a time following his honorable discharge. For over 30 years, Keith worked for GLF/Agway as a salesman and store manager. He loved to travel, garden, golf, bowl and make candles. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Richard Whitehead of Whitney Point, NY, George Whitehead of Adams, NY and Rev. Bruce Whitehead of Knoxville, TN. Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Patricia Whitehead; four sons, Dennis Janet Whitehead of Madison, WI, Raymond Linda Whitehead of St. Louis, MO, Scott Whitehead of Syracuse, NY, Jeffrey Holly Whitehead of Lyndonville, VT; one daughter, Connie Numbers Jeff Fahey of Supply, NC; three grandsons and one granddaughter; one step son, Peter Elwood of St. Johnsville, NY; two step daughters, Linda Richmond of Schenectady, NY and Lorraine Elwood of Mohawk, NY; and several nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
