Dear Bellinger Family,
I recently heard about Glenn's passing. He gave me my first building principal job to start my administrative career. He taught me many things particuarilly about interviewing job candidates. He liked to stump candidates with, "If you could play any position on a baseball team what would it be and why? This question floored many people. He once interviewed a candidate at a truck stop!
Glenn had a great sense of humor and a real compassion for students. I enjoyed my short stay at OECS because he made the job fun and always cut through the red tape to get things done.
I know he loved and cherished each of his children. He always spoke fondly of his wife and children with a twinkle in his eye.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Glenn. What a fine man and tons of accomplishments. I first met Glenn in school band when he played the trombone. Little did I know where his future would lie in the educational field. Everyone should be proud to have known such an accomplished and kind man.

To the family of Glenn Bellinger,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of Glenn. I was hired at Salmon River Central School when he was serving as the superintendent. I will always fondly remember my interview with Glenn, as he offered me a warm welcome to the school. We had a wonderful conversation in which Glenn provided wisdom, advice, and a couple of heartwarming stories as well.
After I was hired at SRCS, Glenn continued to offer guidance and support, and he was assuredly a friendly face to meet in the hallway. His smile always brought me back to that first day we met; what an impression he made...
Thinking of you at this time.
Sincerely,
Amy J. Hollister

To the family of Glenn Bellinger, We are were so sadden to hear about your loss. He was a great man and the first Superintendent that Joe and I had the pleasure of working with at Salmon River. He was SO kind and caring---always giving you a smile and a little story that made you laugh when you saw him in the hall. He was always very approachable and made you feel comfortable---never that he was in a superior position. We still miss his warmth and smile at Salmon River. Glenn even came back to help with a parent night at school after he was finished as Superintendent--passing out pizza for Pre-K students and their families. So very sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathy is with you and your family at this time.

Dear Bellinger Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Glenn. Glenn was my superintendent when I became Assistant Principal at Salmon River High School. He was a great boss, always treating everyone with respect and kindness. He was always ready with a quick joke or witty response. I remember him making fun of me after my first day as the Assistant Principal. I dressed myself in heels that were beautiful to look at but not so great to walk in. After 8 agonizing hours, Glenn came down to my office to see how my first day went. When he saw me barefoot with bleeding toes, he laughed and said, “That’ll teach ya!” He always said he was going to tell that story at my retirement party. Sadly, that will never come to pass. Glenn was my boss but also my friend. He touched so many lives, I’ll miss him.

To the family of Mr. Bellinger, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm a first grade teacher at the St. Regis Mohawk School Salmon River District and I had the opportunity to meet Glenn when I was being interviewed for a teaching position in June 2006. During my interview, Glenn and I realized that we both had lost a sibling at a very young age. I felt it was a connection that I shared with Glenn as we both understood the sorrow and pain from losing a loved one. Glenn was an understanding, caring and friendly person. I wish him the best on his journey to heaven. He will be an amazing angel.

Ah, Glenn~ Right out of SUNY Oneonta, this greenie was entrusted with over 25 poor students in the BOCES Intermediate Class, no aides or preps, trying to carry out some rather idealistic lesson plans. Despite bright eyes and bushy tails, there were some serious adjustment problems when things didn't always go as planned.
With just a wink, or application of your quick wit and metaphors, you were able to soothe the anxious beast in my breast and put things into better perspective. You taught me that if I could laugh, I could start fresh again.
You touched many lives in meaningful ways, and it is sad to see yours cut so short, so soon.
Thanks for the memories!

Dear Bellinger Family, I had the fortunate experience of working with Glenn through our joint membership on the Mohawk Regional Teacher Center Policy Board which was headquartered in the Herkimer BOCES facility.
I was the Dolgeville Central School District librarian and Policy Board representative from S'84 to Jl'04. During my last 2 yrs. on the Board, I served as Policy Board Chair. During that time, and even during the years prior, I worked closely with the district superintendents.
Glenn was a most positive and effective member of the Board. He was happy in his work and was never too busy to take a phone call and to offer solutions to the problem of the day.
I am thankful to have known him during my years as an advocate for teachers and students in Herkimer County.

To Glenn's dear family, I am so shocked and sorry to hear about Glenn's passing. He was my "last" Superintendent at Salmon River and the best Superintendent I ever had the privledge to work with. He had a wonderful way about him, always making others feel good about themselves...he was one of "us", never putting on superior airs and always leaving you with a smile or chuckle! He and I retired the same year and we joked about being a Walmart "greeter" in our retirement years...I wish he'd had more of those. He was so proud of his family...loved his parents and his children so much. You all made him so proud...carry that with you in your hearts. After reading all the other praise and condolences, I am not surprised by all the wonderful words about Glen "Mr. B" Bellinger. I was lucky enough to have him for a homeroom teacher twice, also an English teacher 2 different years. He has always been my mentor, one who left such an impression on me and & so many others. I would run into him on occasion at various school seminars, usually years apart, and would learn he had "moved up the ladder" each time. His strong passion for education was so obvious, and so many of us were fortunate to have benefited from that. I too had the opportunity to catch up with him at Cacciatore's during the Mega-Reunion weekend in Mohawk. Many of these posts are from my classmates, class of ‘79. You can see what a lasting impression he left on us. continued

Your Glenn will be missed. I met up with him again a couple years ago at a class reunion and enjoyed seeing that same old smile that I remembered from when he was my teacher as a junior in Mohawk. He struggled with his illness so much that year but still got us through our regents exams and our prom with gusto and a smile. Thank you Glenn for all you did for us.

To the Family of Glenn,
I am very sorry for your loss. Glenn was the superintendent at Oppenheim school when I was in school. He always greeted me with a warm smile and was always curious about how I was doing. He was a great person in more ways than one and he will be truly missed. Glenn will be remembered by all who knew him at Oppenheim-Ephratah.

Dear Lucy, Gloria, and the Bellinger Family,
I was shocked to read of Glenn's passing. I remember the fun we had when we went to school at FFCS back in 68-69 and as friends even after we left school. He was a wonderful person and a very caring School Administrator. This area has lost a wonderful person and an advocate for area students. Again my deepest sympathy along with my prayers to the entire family.
Fondly, Helen

Mr. Bellinger was the junior class advisor in 1975 when I was the junior-prom committee chairman. I had a terrific time working with him on our prom that year Stairway to Heaven I believe. I think it was his very first year teaching. I can't believe a whole lifetime and career has past from then to now. I will forever remember him as a handsome, happy, enthusiastic and very young teacher fresh out of school. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

To Glenn's family - I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Having reconnected with Glenn a couple of years ago at the Mohawk Mega Reunion, was the highlight of a very special reunion. I will always remember his guidance, patience, and confidence in me as I truly struggled with English - I am and shall be forever thankful. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I met Glenn when I was in 8th grade, certainly a bright light coming into Mohawk. To know him was to instantly like him.His wit, smile and charm-unforgettable.We had much in common,we both came from big farm families, had a farm on the hill,& our Dads were artificial breeders! You can imagine the discussions we had.I have many fond memories of my time with him at MHS.I tracked Glenn and Janice Woolever down to attend our Mohawk reunion. The high light of the night was when they both showed up at the Pub in Ilion.Glenn was thrilled to see us there&we had a great time with him.It was nice to keep track of him and to learn more about his life in more recent years. He loved his children with a passion.I hope during this time that these memories will give you a small lift knowing how incredible your father was and how he influenced so many out there in the world. There is nothing like a great teacher. God bless

So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of being in your dad's class as a freshman at MHS. He helped me discover that writing was something to enjoy. Glenn is one of the few teachers that I can still hear to this day. His supportive teaching style had an influence on everyone that came through his classroom. I feel honored to have known him.

I extend my condolences to the family of Glenn Bellinger. I always felt very lucky to be a member of Mohawk's class of 1979 because we had Glenn teaching us English in both the 9th and 11th grades. He was my favorite teacher and mentor. It was especially wonderful to see him at the mega-reunion a few years ago. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Glenn, you made the world a better place and I will miss you dearly.

We started our careers in Mohawk different years . But Glenn, along with many other young teachers, started our careers together. We shared much those first few years, many fun activities along with learning the craft of teaching. We supported each other and we were friends. "The Mohawk crew" went our separate ways, as we married and had families. But we learned much about young people, and education together in those first few years of our careers. I am sorry of hear of his passing. I know Glenn left his mark on many young people over his 30+ years in schools. So SAD !!!

I was a senior at Perth Central School when Mr. Bellinger took over as principal. We was a great man and I looked up to him. He wanted to change things and did a great job of being fair. I used to run into him every once in a while in the stores. Keep the memories close. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Mrs. Bellinger and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I was going to Perth Central School when Mr. Bellinger took over as our Principal! He was a great leader and a great friend! He once told me that when I figured out the lyrics to Paul Simon's "Don't call me Al" to let him know. Every time I ever heard that song even now I think of him and his wisdom. He never told me what the lyrics meant, and I wonder if he himself knew. I had much respect for Mr. Bellinger and I'm sorry that I didn't keep in touch with him! RIP Mr. Bellinger! Thank you for being you, and for being more than just "the principal".
