Obituary of Katherine P. Werner
Katherine P. Werner, of Fort Plain, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Albany Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1928, at her family home in Freysbush, NY, the daughter of the late Roy and Grace Dillenbeck Peeler.
Katherine was a life time resident of the area and attended local schools. She worked for Beechnut and also retired from there. She was married to the late Andrew Werner August 8, 1953, their union lasted a beautiful 43 years, until his passing on January 2, 1997. Katherine is of the Lutheran Faith and a communicant of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a life time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Fort Plain, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a very active member of the Town of Herkimer Seniors. Katherine enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards and being with her senior friends. Most of all Katherine loved her family and was most caring and giving to anyone she knew.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Gayle Daniel Van Avery of ME, Lucinda "Cindy" Steven Listing of West Sand Lake, NY, and Debra Larry Voght of Fort Plain; her grandchildren also survive, Michelle, Daniel, Jr., Stephanie, Tyler, Alex, Cory, Brittany, Courtney, and Heather; great grandchildren, Austin, Quade, Aurianne, Caitlyn, Tyler, Devin, Andrew and Alexis. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Andrew Werner, she is also predeceased by her brothers LaVern and LeRoy Peeler and a sister Elsie Cooney.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Freysbush, NY at 11 AM. Rev. Kenneth Dingman will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday evening at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street in Canajoharie, NY, from 4 PM until 7 PM. Burial will take place at Albany Rural Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Town of Herkimer Seniors, in care of the funeral home office.
