We were so fond of May Rita as she used to jokingly call herself. The kids loved to visit her office when they were small. She was always so sweet and kind to them and to everyone. She will be missed by so many..

Dear Christine ...
I am so sorry to learn of your Mom's passing. My Mom, Margo Kern, died in May 2010. I remember so well how our Moms sat each afternoon and had coffee and played canasta together and had such great times together - always lots of laughter and good fellowship. I pray Marieta rests in peace and that you likewise enjoy the blessing of her beloved memory. I wish you all the best, and likewise to Tom and your whole family. Please remember me fondly to all.

Jack & Gerry;
My sincerest and deepest sympathies go out to you for your loss. I hope you know how dear your mother was to me. It was always with such joy that I sat out on Bob & Jean's porch smoking with her! We both knew it was bad for us, but Marieta had such a great "screw 'em, we're having fun" attitude!! Oh, how we laughed. She always said that it was more important to enjoy your life and not worry what others might think. I respected her greatly and loved her dearly.
I pray that your fond memories will carry you through, and that you may never again know such sorrow.

Tears continue to come to my eyes at odd moments. There was not a Friday night that I can remember that our families were not together for steak roasts, parties fun and entertainment.My mother and she were soul mates.
Aunt ReeRee, as those closest to her called her, and I had a private joke. When I was in high school I read the Christmas Carol. As we arrived at her house the sign by the door said "Merry Christmas" I wrote next to it "Bah Humbug" It took her awhile to figure out who did it. After that everytime I went, I wrote on her board and we would laugh.I even did it when I went to get my marriage license Last year when we went to visit for what was to be the last time, I saluted her with "Bah Humbug" on the little old chalk board that still greeted everyone out side her "kitchen" later office. And like Peggy, I believe, Aunt ReeRee, Uncle Devee, Dorothy and Dad and a few others are planning a steak roast.

'Aunt' Marieta was probably my favorite of all my friend's Moms, both as a child and an adult. She had the wonderful ability to bring joy and laughter to any occassion and there were too many to mention. My first thought when I heard of her passing was that I bet she and my Mom were together again reminising about old times over a glass of scotch. A comforting thought for me and hopefully for you; Chris, Tom, Jack and Jerry. You are all in my thoughts.

To the family of Marieta Crane, keep the fond memories close to you while you get through this sad time, they will help. She's in a better place with Dever.
I remember when I was getting married for the first time & we had to go see Marieta to get our license at her home; she would joke about getting married. When I worked at Well House on Mondays, I will remember reminiscing with her about the old days when I was growing up in Fultonville & who we both knew. With Deepest Sympathy & May God Bless.

Another special mom with our Lord and her loved ones. So many memories come to mind when I think of your mom. She shared such treasured times with me, marriage license, wedding shower, baby shower,New Year's Eve parties, lunches with my mom, visits with kids, laughs and stories remembered. Our moms are but a memory away...close in our hearts to be cherished. Will think about her and smile..see that twinkle in her eye and remember. .She brightened my world. Thanks for sharing her with me. Love to all, Betsy

Oh my Marieta, my friend and my teacher...I will miss you. I learned at the master's knee how to be the Town of Glen Town Clerk. You told me once that we don't know the row our customer had to hoe on their way to us so treat all with respect and dignity - and let them leave with a smile on their face or in their heart. The laughs and tears that we shared as you brought me into this work that I continue to do for the Town folk will stay with me forever. And I will continue to look at the clouds in the sky to see what may be there - a bird or a dog or preferably a frog shape - thank you for giving me that. You rest now Marieta. love always, Roxanne

Dear Christine, Tom, Jackie & Gerry,
I am saddened to hear that your sweet mother and my dear Aunt Marieta will no longer be exuding her happy spirit and loving ways here on earth, but I have no doubt she is giggling and dancing with her handsome husband, my Uncle Dever, in Heaven. I wish I could be with you to celebrate her life, but please know I am thinking of you all at this time and sending my love and condolences.
Sincerely,
Your cousin, Janet and John
