Obituary of Michael L. Wein
Mr. Michael Leonard Wein, 55 years old, of Palatine Bridge, NY passed away on April 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. He was born on May 6, 1955 in Troy, NY, the son of the late William and Phyllis Doney Wein. He grew up in Burlington, Vermont, graduated from Pioneer High School in San Jose, California, and was a Photography major at DeAnza College in Cupertino, California. He served as an award winning photographer in the United States Air Force.
Michael loved the outdoors and through his work with the Sierra Club taught many others to do the same. Michael enjoyed teaching others. In his work as a gifted salesman and personnel trainer he enabled others to enjoy success in their own careers. He volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America as Cub Master to Canajoharie/Palatine Cub Scout Pack 81. He also felt honored to assist others through his ministry of Baptismal preparation as a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Community.
Michael is survived by his wife Catherine of Palatine Bridge, his son Charles Wein and his wife Lindsey of Essex Junction, VT, his daughter Sommer Wein of Burlington, VT, his sons Michael and Phillip Wein of Palatine Bridge, his brother Kenneth Wein and his wife, Stacy of Morrisville, VT, his sister Laurie of Clarkston, MI, his brother Paul Wein and his wife Angela of Morgan Hill, CA and his brother Charles Wein, of CA, his 7 nephews, and 4 nieces.
The Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, April 14th at 10 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with the Rev. Dennis Murphy as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an educational fund for Michael and Phillip Wein c/o Catherine Wein and may be mailed to the funeral home office.
