Obituary of Robert F. Santo

Mr. Robert F. Santo, 60, of County Highway 126, Broadalbin, NY died peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Ellis Hospital with his family by his side. Born on December 13, 1950 in Amsterdam he was the son of the late Salvatore and Marion Stoddard Santo, Sr. A lifelong area resident, Bob graduated from Perth Central in 1969. He owned and operated Midway Auto for over 30 years. He dedicated himself to mentoring students who shared his passion for troubleshooting and repairing cars. Bob also enjoyed street rods; and attending several car shows to show off his own. Bob was known for his generous and compassionate nature, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his fiancé, Kimberly Ventura of Broadalbin, NY; his sister, Lynne Dwayne Zarecki of Amsterdam, NY; his two brothers, Salvatore Santo, Jr. and Corrado Charlotte Santo all of Amsterdam, NY; his sister in law, Patricia Santo of Johnstown, NY; and his two canine companions, Cash and Moxie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of remembrance will take place on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may call two hours prior to the service beginning at 4p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
