Obituary of Edward J. Kinowski

Edward J. Kinowski age 97 yrs. of Hagaman passed away March 2, 2018. He was born in Amsterdam, NY on August 4, 1920 and is the son of the late Michael and Frances (Szaluska) Kinowski. He is survived by his children Linda (Thom) Angelo, Cynthia Rinehimer (Ed Roy), Michael (Pamela), Arthur (Pattie), Edward (Kathy), Christopher (Lisa), and Daniel. A sister Irene Botch, and grandchildren Michael Nabozny, Lisa Jablonski, Ramona Burnett, Sean Kinowski, Neil Rinehimer, Kyle Kinowski, Kristen Wilson, Jaymie Angelo, Ryan Kinowski, Adam Kinowski, Michael Kinowski, Casey Kinowski, Lindsey Kinowski. 29 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents Edward is predeceased by his wife Agnes Eccles Tolson Kinowski whom he married July 17, 1942 and where married for 62 yrs. And his sisters Helen Zachriski, Florence Duran, and brother Arthur Kinowski. And a grandchild Jason Rinehimer. Graduate of Amsterdam High School. Joined the United States Navy in 1942 during WW II. He served as an Aviation AM2 Metalsmith on the islands of the Philippines during the battle of Leyte and awarded the following medals, Liberation of the Philippines, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, American Campaign, WW II Medal, and the Ruptured Duck. He was discharged in November of 1945. Upon returning to the States he worked various jobs including Mohawk Carpet Mills in Amsterdam, General Electric in Schenectady, and he belonged to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. In the early fifties he took up studies in the insurance industry and became a State Farm Insurance Agent. He soon started his own agency out of his home in Amsterdam Along with his wife Agnes they built a respectable business and in 1959 incorporated to become the Kinowski Agency Inc. which is still in business today, within three local counties. He also was elected to two terms as the Eighth Ward Alderman for the City of Amsterdam 1960 through 1963. Upon retiring from his Corporation he went to work at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. He eventually started developing land with his son Christopher, and created Eccles Drive North of Hagaman. His beloved son Daniel was his care giver, and most trusted Chef. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Amsterdam. Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the St. Mary's Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 on Thursday March 8, 2018 from 10 to 11:15 where then a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated with Fr. Jeffrey L'Arche the Celebrant at 11:15 AM. With a burial to follow in the family plot of the St. Mary's Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Homes 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
