Obituary of Mary P. Lemieszek
Mary Patricia (Gilbert) Lemieszek, age 79 of Amsterdam NY, passed away quietly in her sleep on October 20, 2023, after a brief illness, but a long and adventurous life.
Mary Pat was born July 27, 1944, in Walton NY, the daughter of the late Clayton Gilbert and the late Eva (Oblinsky) Gilbert. She attended Sidney (NY) High School and graduated in 1963 from Frankfort-Schuyler High School in Frankfort NY. She is a polio survivor, battling the disease as a very young girl.
She attended Syracuse University and received certification as a radiological technician from the Saranac Lake Study and Craft Guild. This led to a 42-year career as an x-ray tech at various hospitals in the Buffalo, NY area, as well as Lockport, Albion, and Medina.
She married Walter Joseph Lemieszek in June 1974, and together they raised four children: Ronald (Jutta) Lemieszek of Virginia Beach, VA; Robert (Jenine) Lemieszek of Rancho Cordova CA; Tanya Lemieszek of Amsterdam; and the late Angela (late Andrew) Davis of Enfield CT. She also was blessed with 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was active in the Lions Club in Medina NY and with her husband helped found the Lions Club chapter in Clarendon NY. She was an active member of the Church of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Amsterdam. She was a lover of all animals, especially cats and hummingbirds. She was a die-hard fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
She is survived by three of her children; her sister, Anne Wayman; in-laws Joseph and Angela Zaklikowski of Lancaster NY; sister-in-law Emily (and late Ronald) Klinski of Alden NY, and sister-in-law Genia (and late Frank) Pociask of Tucson AZ; a long list of cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many good friends.
Mary Pat is predeceased by her beloved husband, both parents, her sister Frances, her brother Phillip, her uncle Ken Baldwin, and aunt Anne Baldwin of Frankfort NY.
No calling hours or service at this time. A service and Celebration of Life is planned for Spring 2024.
