Karl and Family,
I have been a truly blessed individual to have been provided with a sister like Bettina. She was so much more than a big sister; she was my mentor, guide, and friend through all that life could throw at any family. She made sure that we made it to Church every week and established a foundation of faith that has lasted me for 75 years. I will never forget the patience, love, and humor that she displayed while dealing with the many antics that I was often (always) involved with.
When we lose a loved one on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May we all take comfort in knowing that our entire family has a very special angel watching over all of us. Linda and I extend our most sincere condolences to my brother-in-law Karl, their sons and daughters: Karl, Jr., Peter, Liz and Karen, and to their individual spouses, significant others, and the many grand and great grandchildren that make up this loving family. May the Lord bless and comfort you during this time of grief. I sincerely wish that we were there, with all of you, to share a hug and a laugh or two.

Dear Karl,
I am so very sorry to read about your wife's passing. It has been such a very long time since we have seen each other. I will never forget when you first arrived from Hagnau and we lived together upstairs in you Aunt and Uncle's farmhouse. And I will also never forget when you told me about your fellow workers calling each other "backstein" after they misunderstood what you told them. That has stayed with me all these years. My wife and I are now living in Colorado and we have two daughters living in Miami and Toronto with their families. Congratulations to you on your many years of marriage and big family. I hope that you are well Karl. I offer my deepest sympathy to you and your family.
