Obituary of Nicholas M. Bartosik
Hagaman- Nicholas M. Bartosik, 71, passed early morning Monday, February 13, 2023, surrounded by ‘his girls,’ at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Through his long career, Nick has worn many hats and has touched many lives, starting from his early days working his family’s carnival business, B&B Rides, to the many years he put in at General Electric before moving on to MOSA, and finally working his way up to the becoming the Director of Weights and Measures for Montgomery County until his retirement in 2014.
Nick strove to improve his community, dedicating 38 proud years to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department, holding the title of Chief from 1992 to 1994. A trustee of the department, Nick also held positions on the Truck Maintenance Committee, New Truck Committee, and Finance Committee. He sat on the Fire Advisory Board for Montgomery County, as well as the Town of Amsterdam Planning Board.
In his spare time, Nick enjoyed hitting the green with his friends, sharing his recipes with friends and family, and teaching those around him the secrets he held in his passion for cooking. Nick’s greatest pride was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those around him, someone who will be dearly missed by those whose lives he touched.
Nick is survived by his loving family: his wife, Jessie Bartosik (ne. Barker;) his two daughters, Kristen Prevendoski and Karri Bardascini (husband Kevin;) three grandchildren Kalli “Tech Support” Prevendoski , Kaitlynn and Kristos Bardascini; sister Marybeth Burditt (husband Kenneth); his four-legged morning crossword buddy Zachary. Nick is predeceased by his sister, Marie Bartosik, and his brother, Michael Bartosik.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. Services will be held at the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department; 126 South Pawling Street, Hagaman, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fire Victims Fund, P.O. Box 16, Succasunna, NJ, 07876 and Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
