Obituary of Anthony J. Sala

Mr. Anthony J. Sala, 98, of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.  Born on June 5, 1923 he was the last living child of Joseph and Mary Sala.

A lifelong area resident, Anthony attended local schools.  He served proudly from 1943–1946 with the United States Army as a Military Policeman during WWII.  He married the love of his life, Agnes A. “Aggie” Dilello Sala in 1948.  Together for 65 years they had a blessed marriage and helped to raise a wonderful family.

A man dedicated to his country and his family, Anthony worked all of his life to provide for his family.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was a good bowler.  Anthony was also a long time member of the Amsterdam Lodge No.84 F&AM   He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife Aggie; and all of his siblings, Daniel, Patrick, Jennie and Sophie; and two grandchildren, Justin and Alex.

Survivors include his children, David J. Sala and his wife Linda, Lewis A. Sala, and Jeffrey A. Sala and his wife Susan; four grandchildren, Dr. Matt, Joshua, Kaylynn, Max; and eight great grandchildren, Auryia, Jasalynn, Rory, Carter, Ashton, Zoe, Cooper and one on the way.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.  Calling hours will be held, prior to the service beginning at 5p.m. All are invited to attend, and masks are required.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
