Oh, the Sunday afternoons after Mass playing touch football in the Murphy side yard on Franklin Street. It was anything but "touch" for the Warners, the Duttons, the Rummlers, the Klutes, the Rogers, the DeChristafaros. We would settle at someone's house at 1 to watch the NFL, then return to the yard and play until supper time and the dark. We gobbled all we could of Mother Murphy's rice, corn, and wheat chex mix.
It was great to talk to Duff these last two years. He didn't want to stop at our Caroga family camp because of COVID and both our vulnerable health situations. I almost convinced him to come to the August H.S. reunion. But, we'd laugh and talk about our youth, at length, on those calls. Sharing of our togetherness of first communion, snowshoe hikes, swimming at Caroga, sneaking into the kingsboro lumber yard, skiiing at oak mountain. His friendship shall be treasured forever.
