Obituary of Jean S. Thompson

            Jean Schlote Thompson, age 77, of Gloversville, New York, passed away, peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 6, 2021 at Mountain Valley Hospice, in Gloversville.

She was born on August 4, 1944 in Johnstown, New York, the daughter of Elwin and Catherine (Eagan) Scholte. After graduating high school, Jean earned her Bachelors in Education from Oneonta State College, and taught for many years, most of which at Park Terrace Elementary School.

            She loved to go to the beach, enjoyed wine and cocktails, sweets, and a variety of junk food. Her weekends were often spent watching football and NASCAR, and she would catch every Yankee game that she could. Jean had an immense love for animals- including her own, the shelter animals that she supported, and the squirrels and birds that she so enjoyed watching and taking terrible pictures of out of her living room window. She surrounded herself with wonderful family and friends, many of which were part of her Park Terrace family.

            Jean is survived by her children, Jodie Thompson-Ellithorpe (Matt Ellithorpe), Eric (Jean) Thompson, and Keith (Natasha) Thompson; her grandchildren, George Thompson, and Kayla (Steven) Catalano; and her great-grandchildren, Elouise Wren, and Alba Maeve Catalano.

She was predeceased by her parents.

            The Thompson family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.

            Interment will take place privately, at the convenience of Jean's family.
