Obituary of Richard D. Freeman Jr.
Richard D. Freeman Jr, know to his family as Dean; 62, of Gloversville passed away on July 29, 2021 at Ellis Hospital. Born on October 4, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant, PA he is the son of the late Richard Sr; and Sherry (Myers) Freeman.
Richard had been a member of the Lexington family for many years receiving supports through Season’s Day Program. Richard was a quiet, soft-spoken man with a very kind and gentle demeanor.
Richard was a 1978 graduate of Amsterdam High School, and enjoyed working at The Town House Restaurant in Johnstown for many years. He worked for many years helping in kitchens doing dishes at FMCC, the Rainbow Restaurant, and also, Sam’s Steakhouse.
Richard lived in the community at Trackside Apartments for many years, he moved to Cutter Lane in October of last year and then to Woody Lane in May of this year. Each home truly enjoyed Richard and he quickly became a member of their family adding his sense of calm and peace wherever he was.
Spending time with family and friends was always very important to Richard.
Richard was a very accomplished artist, showcasing his artwork at many local art shows and also on display at the Paul Nigra Arts Center. He was so proud of his work, as he should have been and was so pleased that he was able to sell his work so others could enjoy it in their homes. He found great relaxation in his painting and drawing.
Richard is survived by his loving family at The ARC Lexington, and his brother David Drew, his uncles and aunts David Myers (Carol) of Gloversville, Richard Myers (Bonnie) of Fonda, Denise Myers Douglas (Barry), Kathy Kilmartin (Ed) of Gloversville and many cousins in the area. Richard was predeceased by his Aunts, Jean Hayes (Robert), and Nancy Hayes (Larry), and his Uncle Bruce Myers (Bonnie).
Graveside services will take on Wednesday August 11, 2021 at 10am at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
