Although I had not seen Brandon in person for quite some time, as a fellow GHS class of 2000 Alum; I followed his journey on Facebook and cheered him on from afar.
I will most fondly recall our middle school era days at Estee, particularly 7th grade. We had almost all the same classes, and despite a very popular boy (him) being seated next to a not-so-popular girl (me) we always had great conversations. It helped that my Uncle was one of the All-Star Little League coaches the prior summer, and I happened to be at the District 12 little league championship game when Brandon scored the run to win the whole championship for GLL.
I will always remember Brandon's kindness an warmth in general, but especially from those middle school days. As many of us know, those are not usually the qualities one matches with a 12-13 year old young man. In my opinion, it truly speaks volumes to the remarkable and genuine person that Brandon was. The world is a better place for him having been in it, and could definitely benefit from many more folks like him.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to Brandon's closest loved ones. May you all find comfort in the indelible mark that he has left on this world.
