Obituary of Eleanore C. Breier

Eleanore C. Breier – Mima to her many loved ones – passed away on May 28, 2021 in Miami, FL. The adored daughter of Samuel and Mayme Cramer, she was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. on June 12, 1919.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marcus I. Breier, as well as her parents and her siblings, Carl Cramer and Ruth Adelman.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Brodsky (Bill), and her sons, Richard Breier (Alyson), and Robert Breier (Judy), as well as her grandchildren:  Ben (Shelly), Lylle (Drew Henderson) Breier, Michael Brodsky (Aleta), Steven Brodsky (Liz), Jonathan Brodsky (Lena), and Samuel Breier (Yuli).  Mima is also is survived by eleven loving great-grandchildren:  Liam, Rebekah, Sophia, Jake, Hayden, Cameron, Dylan, Matthew, Joshua, Mira, and Isabel.

A graduate of Ithaca College and a career physical education teacher, she was an integral part of her husband’s many successful campaigns for both Mayor of Amsterdam and the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors.  A resident of her treasured Amsterdam for nearly a century, she spent much of her last 80 summers winning at the Saratoga Race Track and the local golf course.  And she always made time to grab a hot fudge sundae at the Village Scoop Ice Cream Shop in Northville.

One of the first residents of the Palace in Coral Gables, Mima remained a feared bridge and mahjong player as she approached her 102nd birthday. The family is thankful for Josh and Pam at the Palace, as well her dear friends there, for making her life so busy, productive, and fun.

We are likewise grateful for the almost fifty years of wonderful care given to her by Dr. Edward Neff and his partners.  His effort, personal touch, and insistence on treating her as Eleanore – instead of just some older patient – were critical to her happy enjoyment of a long, fulfilled life.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11a.m. at Temple of Israel Cemetery, Cranesville, New York.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  The service will be live streamed via zoom.  To request the link please email info@brbsfuneral.com
