Obituary of Jane M. Putnam
Mrs. Jane M. Putnam, age 87, of Gloversville, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a short illness.
She was born December 16, 1932 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Anna Ody Boles. She was a lifelong Gloversville resident and was employed at several local grocery stores. With her husband, Doug, she bowled in the Lads and Lassies Bowling League for many years and she chaired the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. She enjoyed baking Christmas cookies and sending them all over the country to her children, grandchildren and friends.
Jane was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit.
She is the loving mother of five children, Douglas V. Putnam Jr.(Beverly), Thomas J. Putnam (Marje), William M. Putnam (Lynne), Albert P. Putnam (Diana) and Melissa A. Hoffman (Adam); a brother, Richard Boles; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Douglas V. Putnam; brothers, William, Carl and James Boles and sister, Sally Horton.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7pm Monday, February 3, 2020 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will be held 9:15am Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, with the Rev. Matthew Wetsel as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
