Obituary of Rita Castry

           Rita Castry ,  88 , of Amsterdam , New York  passed away August 16, 2019  at her home surrounded by her loving family.

       Born in the Bronx , New York  on April 8, 1931 a daughter to Anthony  and Alice D'Isabella Castry .  She was raised in the Bronx, NY and attended High School there.  She came to the Amsterdam area in 1963. 

    She was employed at Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam.   She was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

    Rita had a passion for the New York Yankees especially Derek Jeter. She enjoyed being with her extended family.  

    Survivors include her loving nieces and nephew, Cathi (Gary) Besaw of Carmel Indiana, Diane Nasso  of                                   Amsterdam,  Marianne Nasso of Amsterdam,  Alice (Pedro) Burgado of Amsterdam and John (MaryAnn) Nasso of Richamond Hill, GA.  Several great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.

      She was predeceased by a brother George Castry and sister, Rose Nasso.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wachtmeister and her staff and also the caring staff at Community Hospice.  Your care and concern for Rita’s well being will not be forgotten.

      Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 21, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Maryann Louison presiding.  Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice c/o the funeral home.
