Obituary of Mary Antoinette DeCicco

Mary Antoinette (Mary Ann), DeCicco 58, died on July 5, 2019 in South Carolina after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was born on June 10, 1961 in Milton, FL, the daughter of Jo Ann Mauriello, of Cades, SC. and the late Carl Gilbert Mauriello of Suffren, NY.  She is survived by her loving husband John DeCicco (originally from Amsterdam N.Y.) and son Michael DeCicco of Phoenix, AZ. Other family members she leaves behind include: brother Steve Mauriello of Florida, husband of Dorothy; brother John Mauriello of South Carolina.; and brother Robert Mauriello of Arizona, husband of Maureen. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

A 1984 graduate of Florida State University, Mary Ann earned a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science and married the love of her life on November 7, 1987 in Palm Bay, Fla. She had an industrious career as a Software Engineer with several companies, including Harris Corporation, System Analysis, Meditech and General Dynamics, and developed many long-lasting friendships with professional colleagues around the country.   

Mary Ann acquired many friends in Massachusetts and later in Arizona because of her volunteerism in the community and her fun loving personality. She made it a priority to give of her time to various school and sports activities in Bellingham, Massachusetts, assisting with afterschool programming, publishing the middle school yearbook, and coaching youth baseball. She cherished the memories of watching her son Michael play on a myriad of school, town, and travel team sports, and forged many lasting friendships with other families as she cheered on his team from the bleachers. After moving to Fountain Hills, Arizona. in 2007, she became involved in the High School's Athletic Booster Club and graduation activities. 

A Southern girl at heart, Mary Ann showed the warmest hospitality to guests when entertaining, and friends and family went home (late) well fed and happy thanks to her skilled cooking and baking. Mary Ann loved celebrating holidays with family and friends, spending days at the beach, traveling, skiing, yoga, reading, theater, music, and hiking anywhere outdoors. She also loved watching sports with her husband - especially college football and baseball.

Her family, friends, and colleagues in all parts of the country, especially in Florida, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina and Arizona, will miss her beautiful smile, her Southern charm, and the late night laughter they often shared with her.

Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday July 19, 2019 at 11:15 AM at Historic St. Mary’s Church, 156 E. Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Fr. Jeffrey M.  L’Arche  the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot of the St. Michael’s Archangel Cemetery.
