Obituary of Charles James MacDougall
Charles James MacDougall, of Saratoga Springs, passed away suddenly while training for a mountain bike race on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the age of 43.
Charles was born on September 18, 1975 to Ted James and Linda (Beams) MacDougall of Amsterdam NY. He attended local schools graduating from Amsterdam High School. Charles began his career in construction when he was in high school and was most recently employed by Bonacio Construction Inc in Saratoga Springs. He enjoyed working with his hands and being outdoors, an avid hiker and outdoorsman he loved hiking the peaks and spending time in the Adirondacks. He enjoyed skiing, especially at Killington in Vermont, and worked as a ski instructor at Gore Mountain where he also spent a great deal of time mountain biking.
Charles is survived by his mother Linda MacDougall of Amsterdam, brothers Frank (Sherri) MacDougall of Fonda and Mike MacDougall of Broadalbin as well as his sister Amy (Thomas) Cornell of Glen, he also leaves behind his nieces; Meaghan and Kaitlyn nephews; Sean, Derek and Andrew, as well as his grandparents Ben and Sally Beams of West Davenport NY.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted, who passed away March 25, 2001.
Charles will be remembered as a kind and loving person. His fun-loving spirit will be greatly missed.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 6p.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave Amsterdam, NY 12010. Calling hours will take place at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home on Monday June 17 from 4p.m. to 6p.m. prior to the service. Charles’s ashes will be scattered in the Adirondack Mountains that he loved so much.
