Obituary of Kim Togaila
Kim Stanley (Hoefs) Togaila, 64, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice Home after battling a long illness.
Kim was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 10, 1954 to the late Art and Gladys (Hartig) Hoefs. She was the youngest of six children. Kim was a 1972 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She went on to work as an aide at the former Montgomery County Infirmary and provided a nurturing environment for many children though in home child care.
Kim will forever be remembered by her soul mate and husband of 37 years, Thomas “Togie” Togaila and their children, Daniel (Megan) and Samantha Togaila. She was the proud “Oma” of Gabriel and Gehrig Togaila and the loving sister of Robert (Marjorie) Hoefs and Holly (Louis) Aldi. She is predeceased by her siblings, Richard (Carol) Hoefs, Adelia “Deal” (Ray) Guisti, and Kenneth Hoefs. Kim will also be lovingly remembered by her cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.
Kim truly lived life to the fullest and took advantage of celebrating every occasion, big or small. She was a holiday enthusiast through and through. She decorated every inch of her cozy home for every holiday. Kim could often be found singing to the Beach Boys and Barry Manilow. She passed her love of music onto her children and grandsons. Kim will be fondly remembered for her contagious smile, huge heart, and unwavering love for her family. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She led by example and taught us all to put “family first”, as she would often say. When her health started to decline, Kim’s only wishes were to be surrounded by the ones that she loved most.
A Celebration of Kim’s life will take place on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, with Rev. Kent McHeard presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service on Wednesday January 2, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
