Obituary of Lois J. Edwards
Mrs. Lois J. Edwards, 85, of the Town of Johnstown died peacefully on Wednesday, Mary 23, 2018 following a brief illness. Born in Gloversville on March 4, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Flora Tiedeman.
A lifelong area resident, she attended local schools. On August 14, 1955 she was united in marriage to David C. Edwards. Together for 61 years, they owned and operated Model Dairy Farm until their retirement. Sadly, David passed away June 30, 2017. Lois was also predeceased by her brother Roy.
Lois will be remembered for her love of life and of her community. She enjoyed being a volunteer at the Gloversville Library and was eagerly awaiting the completion of its renovation. She also served on the Auxiliary of the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Department for over 55 years. Lois will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Lavender and her husband Bill of Palm Coast, FL and Leza McLain and her husband Rusty of Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren, Kyle and his wife Aimee McLain and Amy McLain; two great granddaughters, Heaven and Madison; her two “adopted” daughters, Sally Kettler and Laurene Suchy; two brothers-in-law, Robert Edwards and his wife Linda and Roger Edwards and his wife Nila; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 12p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10a.m. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
