Obituary of Jane S. Jones

     Jane S. Jones of Fort Plain, NY,  passed away on May 13, 2018 at the age of 91.   Jane was born in the Town of Palatine on April 9, 1927 to the late Charles Jay and Crystal (Saltsman) Settle.  Jane attended St. Johnsville Central School where she graduated high school. Jane worked as a clerk for the New York Telephone Co. for 15 years.  She later married Henry D. Jones,  they remained happily married until his passing in 2015. Jane, and Henry worked side by side on the Henry Jones Family Farm, which they ran together until 1990 when they made the decision to sell it.  Jane was a member of the Freys Bush Methodist Church, a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, and Seebers Lane Grange.

   Jane is survived by her son Jeffrey  (Irene Garin) Roof of Johnstown,  two  sisters Vera Croote of Canajoharie, and Janet Shuster of St. Johnsville, one granddaughter, as well as several nieces and nephews.

     Jane is predeceased by her parents, husband Henry,  two sisters Laura Getman and Eleanor Chatman, and a brother Harold Settle.

Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home,  69 Otsego St, Canajoharie, NY on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 10 AM to 12 Noon with a memorial service to follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Cynthia Leonard presiding.    Burial will follow in the family plot of the Fort Plain Cemetery.
