Obituary of Peter William Ferris III
It is with great sadness that the family of Peter W. Ferris lll announces his passing after a very courageous battle with cancer on Monday May 14, 2018 at the age of 77.
Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years Terry Oathout Ferris and their children, James Ferris of Schen. , Patti Kiskis (Daniel) of Galway, and David Ferris (Sara) of Scotia. He will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Brittany, Brenden, Makayla, Hunter, Logan, Pyper, Grace, and Daniel; his sister Karen Charland (Bill) of Rotterdam; and his mother in law Jean Oathout. Peter is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter enjoyed lots of great times with his in laws Tim & Deb, Cindy & Rich, Denise & Chip and Glenn. Pete is predeceased by his parents Valerie Noonan and Peter Ferris Jr.; his step brother William Carr Jr.; his father in law Clifford Oathout; and sister in law Sherry Harwood.
Pete enjoyed little league at Turnbull Field in his youth. Peter graduated from Scotia-Glenville High in 1958. He was very proud to serve in the Army from 1958 to 1964 and serve part of his time in Germany. He worked briefly at Hathaways AMC Dealership in Scotia. Pete worked for the Town of Glenville Highway/Landfill Dept. for 31 years retiring in 1996. During part of that time he enjoyed pumping gas for Bruce Clemons gas station. Pete enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling. He volunteered for BHBL Babe Ruth as a coach for several years. He also helped with the Boy Scouts Troop 65. After retirement Pete loved his happy hour almost daily during snowbird season in Silver Springs FL. with friends and neighbors. Peter will be greatly missed especially by his best buds Glenn Harwood and Bill Pitz.

In lieu of flowers a memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Peter to any Animal rescue or The American Cancer Society. At the request of Peter there will be no formal visitation. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 9am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871. A reception will follow and take place at Beukendaal Fire Department on Sacandaga Rd. (Rt. 147) Scotia, NY 12302. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
