Obituary of Drew Szabo
Mr. Drew Szabo , 71 , of Amsterdam , formerly of Gloversville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday April 21, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Gloversville, New York on October 2, 1946 a son of the late James and Hazel J. Gordon Szabo. He attended Gloversville High School. Mr. Szabo served in the US Army where he served three tours of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was in the 20th Engineering Brigade, later before his discharge he was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Szabo was employed as a Truck Driver for over 20 years for Adirondack Beverages in Scotia. NY. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #294 of Albany, NY. He was a former member of the American Legion Post # 337 in Broadalbin, NY.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle (William) Gordon of Concord, North Carolina and Jacqueline Szabo of Broadalbin, NY. Sisters, Julie Hull of Mayfield, Prudence Oare of Gloversville, Nida Chiariello of Gloversville and brother, Gordon Sparks of Ephratah. Four Grandchildren, Heather Passino, Brianna Szabo, Christopher Gordon and Ashley Gordon. Two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Button and Locksey Rorick and one brother, Kevin Sparks and a grandson, Mark Passino Jr.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Interment of cremated remains will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers Wish, PO Box 2396, Tulsa, OK 74101-2396. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Freemont St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
