Obituary of Julius J. Biasini
Mr. Julius J. “Duke” Biasini , 85 , of Amsterdam, New York, passed away Thursday April 5, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with his loving family at his side.
Born in Johnstown, NY on January 30, 1933 a son of the late Gulio and Elisa Costanza Biasini. He was a resident of Johnstown until his marriage and lived in Amsterdam since.
Julius was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was employed as a Diesel Mechanic for his entire career. He worked as a Supervisor for over 21 years for the New York State Division of Supply & Support in Rotterdam, NY. He also worked for the former White Motor Company in Albany, Colonie Truck Sales and Diamond Rio in Albany . Mr. Biasini enjoyed coaching and watching his children when they were young play sports. He also enjoyed Westerns, was a master puzzle maker, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends at Wendy’s.
He was a member of the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and currently was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. He was also a member of the VFW post #55. He was an avid NY Giants Fan.
Julius married Natalie Materazzo Biasini on June 27, 1954, she passed away on December 13, 2010. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Pam Lavicka and her husband Joseph of Amsterdam. Two loving sons, Wayne(Tammy) Biasini of Amsterdam, NY and Christopher(Jacquelyn DiScenza) Biasini of Amsterdam. Cherished grandchildren, Elise (Steven) Kameka, Joseph Lavicka, Ashley, Natalie and Jason Biasini, Chelsey (Brandon) Cooper, Payton and Alana Biasini. Great-grandchildren, Contessa, Gabriel and Gian Flint, Chase and Cole Barnes. Brother, Lino Biasini (Thelma Jane) of California and sister, Amelia Myzal of Gloversville, NY. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Americole Biasini in 2012 and a sister, Angelina Asselta in 2011. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 9, 2018 at 11:15 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN.
