Obituary of Shirley Snyder

     Mrs. Shirley Bowler Snyder, 83, of Ft. Johnson, passed away Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018 at her home with her family and her beloved cat Willie at her side.

     Born on August 28, 1934, the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Laura Mae Putman Bowler.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended local schools.

    Shirley was a devoted wife and homemaker.   She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was an integral part of the Village of Ft. Johnson Youth Commission for many years.   She loved cooking and crafting and above all spending time with her family.  

    On June 28, 1953 she married Robert Snyder, they were married 60 years until he passed away on September 14, 2013.  Survivors include her dear nieces and nephews, Ronald Bowler, Sheri Bowler, Kim Clezkowski, Chris Schneider, Stacy Minor, Kevin Bowler, Linda Snyder, Carol Buddles, Mark Snyder, Glen Snyder and a special cousin, Michael Mulligan.  Shirley was also predeceased by an infant son, William Putman Snyder and two brothers, Theodore “Ted” Bowler, and Eugene Bowler.   

         Funeral services will be held on Friday April 6, 2018 at 11:00am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Jerry Kauffman presiding.  Interment will be at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday April 5, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alley Cat Allies, 7920 Norfolk Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814-2525 or to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
