Obituary of Stephen Scott Smith
Stephen Scott Smith, 68, peacefully passed away March 24, 2018 surrounded by family at Vanderbilt Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
After graduation from Coxsackie-Athens High School, Steve served three years in the U.S. Navy. He then worked for National Graphics in Albany for many years until deciding to pursue his dream of designing, patenting and marketing a model airplane, “The Prowler”. He retired from the US Postal Service after serving for many years as a rural delivery carrier.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife Karin, son Andrew (Kim), step daughters Heather and Tina Hotaling, his sisters Melody (John) Eldred, Monica (Kevin) Coughlin, father Ferdinand Joseph Smith, grandchildren Adelynn, Lorenzo, Isaiah, Gavin, and Taylor as well as brother-in-law James Roberts.
Family and friends knew him best for his love of cooking, music, the outdoors and his dogs, Buster and Brandy.
At Steve’s request, his body has been donated to medical science. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
