Obituary of Jane Potts

Jane Potts, 70, of Amsterdam passed away on May 17, 2016 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 4, 1945 in Schoharie, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Erma Lawyer Diamond. Jane was a resident of the area for many years, graduating from Schoharie High School. She went on to work various jobs, including, secretary for General Electric for 10 years, bus aid for Broadalbin Perth Central School District as well as working for the Fulton County Public Health. Jane's most recent job that she loved the most was working for the Town of Broadalbin and Mayfield for Animal Control as their Dog Warden for the past 20 years. On August 28, 1977 Jane married her loving husband, David Potts. They would've celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary this summer. Together Jane and Dave owned and operated Sawmill Farms in Amsterdam, where she loved to raise all kinds of animals. She was very active with local farmers markets and the Fulton County 4-H. Many summers you would find Jane at the Fonda Fair, whether it was with the 4-H, showing animals or making sure everything was in order for winners to get their trophies. Also, Jane had a big part in helping to open the Regional Animal Shelter in Gloversville. Previously, she was a member with the Galway Ambulance Corp for 15 years. Survivors include her loving family, husband, David Potts; son, Dale Potts; sisters, Barbara Sharpe (Larry), Doris Skinner and Geraldine Johnston (Robert Alison); brothers, James Diamond (Edith) and Michael Diamond (Debra).Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her brother in law, Howard Skinner. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services for Jane will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11am at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will follow at West Galway Cemetery, Galway. Calling hours to which family and friends are invited to attend will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4pm till 7pm at the funeral home.
