Obituary of Janet Louise Tesiero
Mrs. Janet Louise Tesiero of Golf Course Road, Amsterdam, died peacefully into the arms of the Lord on May 17, 2016.
A lifelong city resident she was born on July 21, 1933 the daughter of the late Frederick and Martha Long. Janet attended local schools and was a member of the Graduating Class of 1951 of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, where she was the first Drum Major to lead the Amsterdam Marching Rams. Following graduation, Janet was accepted in to college, but decided to join the workforce instead.
On August 2, 1953, she was united in marriage to Donald E. Tesiero. Together for 54 years, they shared a beautiful marriage until his passing on June 21, 2007. She was also predeceased by her brother, Allen F. Long.
Janet enjoyed life to the fullest. She along with her family owned and operated Tesiero's Professional Apothecary. She enjoyed all aspects of the business, and believed in helping people. She was instrumental in establishing Tesiero's as being the first pharmacy in Amsterdam to be able to distribute cancer medication and provide services to Hospice patients. Janet was also heavily involved with the community, serving on the Board of Director's for the Sarah J. Sanford Home for Women, and was an officer with the Amsterdam Community Concerts. She enjoyed outings with her high school class mates, affectionately known as the "Lunch Bunch" and being out in the community. She also enjoyed traveling to exotic destinations such as Antarctica and Russia as well as all 50 states. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Tesiero and his wife Robbin of Shrewsbury, MA; two daughters, Donna L. Tesiero of Boston, MA and Dawn L. Kolodziej and her husband Ron of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Janet Rose Kolodziej Budinich, Maria Cohn, Donald Tesiero Cohn, Susan Tesiero, Lisa Cohn, Ronald Kolodziej, Thomas Cohn, Donald E. "Trey" Tesiero III, Marie Tesiero, and E.J. Tesiero- Miller; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Edward L. Wilkinson for their compassionate care they provided to their Mom.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 10 o'clock at the United Methodist Church, 347 Golf Course Road, Amsterdam. Burial will follow at 1 o'clock at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam or the Make A Wish Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association in Janet's Memory.
