Obituary of Julia E. Scattergood

St. Johnsville, NY-Mrs. Julia E. Scattergood, age 75, of St. Johnsville, passed away May 18, 2016 at Palatine Nursing Home. . She was born on July 21, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey to Arthur and Julia (Wagner) Turnowski and educated locally. Julia was united in marriage with Donald R. Scattergood in Teaneck, NJ on July 18, 1959; a blessed union of 56 years until he passed away on April 29, 2015. Mrs. Scattergood was last employed with Fulmont Neighborhood, Ft. Plain. In her leisure time she enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was of the Catholic faith and was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Church, Ft. Plain. Julia is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Sprague of Canajoharie, June Costello and husband Michael of Jacksonville, FL, Laureen Steenburg and husband Alan of Ft. Plain and Rebecca Rounsville of Jacksonville, FL; many siblings; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her beloved canine companion, Pip. The family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Fort Plain on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM also on Monday at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. She will be laid to rest in the Van Hornesville Cemetery privately. Memorials may be sent in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 1 Computer Drive South #104, A Albany, NY 12205.
