Obituary of John Mazurkiewicz
John (Jack) S. Mazurkiewicz, Jr. 74, of Galway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 4, 1941 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late John S. Sr. and Ada Cuckoo Mazurkiewicz. A lifelong resident of the area, John graduated high school and went on to graduate from Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in HVAC technician. John served in the Marine Corp for 20 years, retiring in 1979. He was also a Vietnam combat Veteran and a member of the American Legion in Broadalbin. He also worked at The Desmond in Colonie for many years at a job that he loved.
He loved to fish on the Galway Lake, as well as taking care of his garden. He will be sadly missed by his beloved dogs; Ruby, Missy, Kassie and Lily.
John is survived by his loving family, his wife, Meredith (Mary) of 46 years; children, John Mazurkiewicz III (Cheryl), Deanna Mazurkiewicz, Braden Mazurkiewicz and Corin Barker (Brett); like a son, Chris Bazan; sisters, Betsy Lee Dalleo (John) and Carol Dugan; beloved grandchildren, Noah, Brett Jr, Zachary, Emmaleigh, Kaelyn, Cheyenne and Maeve; brother in laws, Earl Womer (Jackie) and Don Womer (Lynn). Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for John will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11am with Pastor Chuck Hesslink presiding at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will follow with military honors at Memory Garden Cemetery, Albany. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 1pm till 4pm at the funeral home.
