Obituary of Edith E. Woodbeck
Edith E. Woodbeck, 83, of Langley Road, Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, May 19, 2016, at the Hospice Home in Gloversville with her loving family at her bedside.
Born April 21, 1933 in Glen, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mabel Wood Reynolds. She was a graduate of the Fultonville High School.
Edith worked for the former White Mop Ringer Company in Fultonville, the former Campbell Plastics and later she was employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady for 15 years.
She instilled work ethics and independence to her children and grandchildren. She raised her children alone and was extremely proud of the home she was able to provide and the successful adults they became.
Edith was blessed with the love of many nieces, nephews and friends.
Survivors include two sons, John Woodbeck (Shawn) of Esperance and Randy Woodbeck (Terri) of Fonda; a daughter, Debbie LaVoie Clouthier of Johnstown; a brother, Howard Reynolds (Beverly) of Fonda; three sisters, Florence Minch of Tribes Hill, Alice Kane of Leesburg, Florida and Orvetta Pedrick of Broadalbin; two grandchildren, Michael LaVoie II (Chrystal) and Danielle Woodbeck of Fonda and two great grandchildren, Michael LaVoie III and Ellie LaVoie of Florida. Edith was predeceased by seven siblings, Virgil, Edward, Robert and Leon Reynolds, Mildred Vunk, Leona Mezzio and Beatrice Douglass.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 26, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Burial will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
