Obituary of Pastor Ray L. Lydick

Pastor Ray L. Lydick, 83, of Amsterdam, passed away Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with his loving family at his side. Born in Madison, Maine on August 28, 1932 a son of the late Charlie Roy and Georgie Rose Watson Lydick. He grew up in Maine and was a graduate of Madison High School. Ray went on to study at Bob Jones University and then New Brunswick Bible Institute in Canada. Pastor Ray was ordained in May of 1958. He was assigned to the Glen Community Church in Glen New Hampshire. Followed by Olamon, Maine. He then came to this area in the 1970's and became Pastor of the Family Bible Church until his retirement. Pastor Ray also worked for Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam for many years. He married Iola Bertha Reid on June 7, 1958. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Angel Dykes and Vanessa Lydick both of Amsterdam. A Foster Daughter, Johanna Warner of New Jersey. Grandchildren, Shawn Porath of the US Army, Johnathan (Carolyn) Porath of Amsterdam, Diann (Roy) Gunzburg and Darius Gainer of Amsterdam. Great-grandchildren, Nathan, Autumn, Evaleen and Mary. Niece, Bonnie Kobeissi of Michigan. Many great nieces also survive. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold, niece Pamela and great- granddaughter Kelsey. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wilkinson for the compassion and care they provided for Ray. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 26, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Family Bible Church 449 Thayer Rd., Amsterdam with Rev. Dennis Burke and Rev. Ken Aucompaugh presiding. Interment will follow in Van Vechten Cemetery, Pattersonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday May 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Bible Church in Pastor Ray's memory.
