Obituary of Kenneth W. Bowley
Sprakers, NY-Mr. Kenneth W. "Red" Bowley, Sr., 83, of Old Sprakers Rd., Sprakers, passed away Sunday evening, May 22, 2016 after a brief illness at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
He was born on July 5, 1932 in Burlington, VT son of the late Robert Bowley and Ruby Brownell. Ken married Marjorie (Haviland) who he spent 52 years with until the time of her passing on April 3, 2012. Ken was a long time resident of the Fort Plain-Fonda area. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He enlisted in the Army in 1949 and was honorably discharged in July of 1957, holding the rank of Specialist, Third Class.
Ken is survived by his sons, David (Norma) Bowley, Shane (Marge) Bowley, Daniel (Ida) Bowley and Kenneth (Theresa) Bowley, Jr.; his daughter, Denise (Bob) Carter; twenty five grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and three more on the way; his brother, Wilifred (Tiny) (Adeline) Bowley; his companion, Rose Kelly; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Bowley and three daughters, Kim Stone of Ft. Plain, Debbie Bowley of Sprakers, Michelle (Shults) Bowley of Broadalbin and by his sister, Gloria of Fort Plain.
The funeral service will commence at 1 p.m. at Lenz and Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie on Friday, May 27, 2016 with Pastor Gail Adamoschek of the River of Jubilee Church, Sprakers, officiating. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday from 11 am until 1 p.m. prior to the service. Procession will follow to Fort Plain Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. The US Army will offer military honors.
