Obituary of Irving Colby

Irving "Junior" Colby, 86, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 23, 1930 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Irving Colby and Eva Bovee Snow. Irving worked in the leather industry for many years until his retirement. He was very proud of his vegetable garden and would always share with family and friends. Irving enjoyed fishing and even had the opportunity to go deep sea fishing several times. Most of all, Irving was a devote family man and will be sadly missed by his beloved family and friends. Survivors include his sons Michael Colby and Richard Colby; daughters Cindy Colby and Kelly Colby (Paul Giudilli); son-in-law Scott Graham; sisters Arlene Robinson, Ethel Sanborn (Arthur), Shirley Cwiakala and Margaret Risucci (Rocco); grandchildren Connor Phelps, Gareth Phelps, Alana Phelps, Kellen Phelps, Nicholas Graham, Zachary Graham, Kristina Hart, Kiera Kennedy, Alexander Colby, Adam Colby, Devan Eagan (William) and Logan Colby-Rowe; great grandson Parker Colby Eagan. Irving is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret A. Dunham Colby; infant son Ronald Colby; daughter Bonnie Graham and his brothers Don and Clyde Colby. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 12-2 P.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A service to celebrate Irving's life will take place Monday 2 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Irving's memory to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
