Obituary of B. Jane Bramer
B. Jane Bramer, 90, of County Highway 107, Town of Broadalbin, passed away Sunday morning, June 5, 2016, shortly after arriving at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born June 30, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Thatcher Bowen. Jane was a graduate of the Upper Darby High School in Darby, Pennsylvania in 1943 and she was a graduate of the Taylor Business School in Philadelphia.
Jane was first employed as a secretary for the University of Pennsylvania from 1943 until 1947; secretary for the Amsterdam School of Nursing from 1947 until 1952; and starting in 1952 she worked as a secretary for the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Department of Radiology until retiring in 1995.
Jane was a devoted member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam and the Faithful Followers of the church. She was also a member of the former Tryon Dog School in Johnstown. Jane had a great joy of life with many friends. She was known as the purple lady.
In 1966 she married Samuel Bramer who passed away in 1980. She was also predeceased by her fiancé Anthony (Tony) Filiberto who passed away in 2001.
Survivors include two step daughters, Penny Bramer and Betsy Simek (Jerry); 3 grandchildren, Alicia Marshall (Steve), Zack Simek and Erin Hoehn (James, Jr.); great granddaughter, Rowan; sister-in-law, Yvonne Gutowski (Bernard); several nieces, nephews and her precious feline Shadow.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 24 Pine Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Dr. John A. Califano presiding. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the church.
