Obituary of Margaret Rubscha

Mrs. Margaret Rubscha, 89, of Gloversville, NY died peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2016 with her family by her side at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. A lifelong area resident, Margaret was born on April 29, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Louis and Florence Donnelly and was a 1944 graduate of Gloversville High School. She was employed by Mario Papa & Son's for many years until her retirement in 1989. On October 8, 1955 she was united in marriage to Richard L. Rubscha. That union lasted 46 wonderful years until his passing on December 9, 2001. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Louis Donnelly, Jr., James Donnelly and Helen Szumowski. Margaret was of the Roman Catholic faith, a parishioner of Church of the Holy Spirit and the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and was devoted to her family. Later in life she enjoyed oil painting and had several works of art. She always had a smile on her face, and a wonderful attitude and outlook on life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her loving family includes, her five children, Richard (Joanne) Rubscha of Peoria, AZ, Mark (Debora) Rubscha, Sr. of Caroga Lake, NY, Thomas (Cathy) Rubscha of Johnstown, NY; two daughters, Deborah (Paul) Vainauskas of Amsterdam, NY and Susan (Kenneth) Yorks of Mayfield, NY; one sister, Patricia (William) Whipple of VA Beach, VA; seven grandchildren, Alicia Kromschroeder, Mark Rubscha, Jr., Elizabeth Rubscha, James, Tyler, Nicole, and Samuel Vainauskas; three great grandchildren, Bryce, Brooke and Lila; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 10:15a.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11.am. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Relatives and friends are invited to her final art exhibit and visitation on Monday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
