Obituary of Adella Vainauskas
Mrs. Adella Vainauskas, 89, of County Highway 107, Amsterdam died peacefully on June 14, 2016. Born in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine Balicki Cwiakala.
A lifelong area resident, Adella attended Saratoga and Galway schools. She was employed by Ward Products for 26 years until her retirement in 1989.
In June of 1946 she was united in marriage to George Vainauskas. That union lasted over 60 years until his passing in 2007. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Stanley and Theodore Cwiakala; her sisters, Helen Pawloski, Mary Nester, and Jenny Cwiakala.
Adella was very devoted to her faith, and her family. She enjoyed baking and was well noted for her pies. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four sons, Stephen W. Vainauskas, Joseph A. Vainauskas and his wife Dolores, Robert J. Vainauskas, and Paul M. Vainauskas and his wife Deborah; one brother, Bruno Cwiakala; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Kristen) Vainauskas, Lisa (Brian) Gaetano, James, Tyler, Nicole and Samuel Vainauskas; one great granddaughter, Liana; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11 o'clock at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 46 N. Pawling Street, Hagaman with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held this evening (Thursday) from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
