Obituary of Dorothy S. Robinson

Mrs. Dorothy S. Robinson, 92, of Clinton Avenue, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Born in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Freida Smith On April 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to T. Richard Robinson. Together for nearly 69 years, they lived a wonderful life together. Sadly, that union ended on January 27, 2016 with Richard's passing. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Gladys Williams and Robert Smith. For over 25 years she worked for the Fort Plain Central School District, retiring as the secretary to the Guidance Office. Dorothy was also actively involved in her community, serving as the secretary- treasurer of the Fort Plain Scholarship Association for many years. She was a founding member of the Fort Plain Senior Center, serving on the board and was responsible for program development and securing funding for the center. Dorothy was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, served on the consistory for several terms and was an active member of the Junior Guild. She also helped maintain and beautify the Prospect Hill Park. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and being outdoors on her patio but most of all loved her husband, family, and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include three children, Virginia L. Robinson of Walton, NY, Dale L. Walton and her husband Charles of Saratoga Springs, NY, Richard M. "Bo" Robinson and his wife Stacy of Apalachin, NY; four grandchildren, Ashley (Joshua) Gaul, Chelsea (Ben) Cangeleri, Ben (Colleen) Robinson, Travis (Kim) Robinson; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will commence on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11a.m. at the Fort Plain Reformed Church, 165 Canal Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with the Rev. Nancy Ryan presiding. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10a.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Plain Reformed Church or to the Fort Plain Scholarship Association in her memory.
