Obituary of William E. Jasewicz
William E. Jasewicz, 90, of Perth, New York died peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born in Little Falls, NY he was the son of the late Victor and Elsie Piszkin Jasewicz, Sr.
A lifelong resident, Bill attended Little Falls schools and worked hard all his life to provide for his family. In 1956 he moved to the Town of Perth. He was the owner and partner of the ABC Motors of Amsterdam. He serviced and maintained the fleets of Niagara Mohawk, United Parcels and New York Telephone Company. Bill then went to work as a Terminal Manager for the Cady Company until his retirement. He also attended New York State Emergency Public Safety Critical and Management Courses, and was a Safety Director for the Gorman Group for three years.
Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7629 in Broadalbin and served as Past Grand Knight, serving seven terms and numerous other positions. He was also a member and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree. Bill was also the District Deputy of the 64th District, serving five counsels within the New York State Knights of Columbus. At the State level, he was an Auxiliary Chairman of the Charitable and Benevolent Program, a Vice Chairman of the Program Directors of Membership Programs and Youth Committees. Bill was a member of the Executive Board and Chairman of Building and Grounds Committee, a Eucharistic Minister and Usher of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. He was also a former trustee, Sgt. Of Arms of the Knight of Lithuania Council #100 and President of the Hudson-Mohawk Knights of Lithuania Counsel #136. Bill was also an avid hunter, member of the Perth Seniors; he was a Town of Perth Councilman and loved his family deeply. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Bablinskas Jasewicz; nine children, William R. (Pamela) Jasewicz, James Jasewicz, Edmund (Terri) Jasewicz, Catherine (Ted) Westerling, Christine (Robert) Tambasco, Joan Rimkunas (Stanley), Beatrice (Eric) Costanzo, Kenneth (Jayde) Jasewicz and Richard (Judith) Jasewicz; four siblings, Helen Korona, Theresa Snell, Victor Jasewicz, Jr. and Stanley Jasewicz; 40 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings; Joseph, Frances, Anna, Albert, Donald and Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam; where the Knights of Columbus will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Knights of Lithuania will meet at 6:45 p.m. for services.
