Obituary of Joseph J. Coratti

Mr. Joseph J. Coratti, 89, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday June 30, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with his loving family at his side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 1, 1927 the son of the late Thomas and Carmella Damiano Coratti . He went back to Italy to live for a time before returning to Amsterdam. He attended Hudson Valley Community College. Mr. Coratti served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Plumber by trade and was the owner and operator of Coratti Plumbing and Heating for many years in Amsterdam until his son Anthony took over the business in the 1990's. He never officially retired. He was a communicant of the former St. Joseph's and St Michael's churches and was recently a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Joseph enjoyed playing Bocce with the Port Jackson Bocce Club and the East End Bocce Club for many years. He loved being in his garden and also enjoyed Square Dancing. He was a member of various societies of the church. He married Alesandra Santibianchi Coratti on July 11, 1948, she passed away in 1987. Survivors include his children, Thomas Coratti of Kansas City, MO, Joseph Coratti Jr. and his wife Marybell of San Diego, CA, one daughter, Deborah A. Trimarchi of Amsterdam. Cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Alesandra and Gina Trimarchi, Angelica, Joseph Coratti III, Joseph Coratti, Diana Teasdale, Christy and Craig Coratti. Four great- grandchildren. One sister, Mary (Ralph) Johnson of Tampa, Florida. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Coratti was predeceased by his beloved son Anthony J. Coratti on May 2, 2014 and three siblings, Jennie, Orlando Coratti and Anthony A. Coratti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 7, 2016 at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti presiding. Interment will follow with full military honors in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday July 6, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
