Obituary of Jaynette R. Gage
Jaynette R. Gage, 88, of County Highway 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville with her family at her side.
Born March 24, 1928, in Gloversville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Rose Sleezer Lehman. She lived in Oklahoma for about 30 years before returning to Gloversville in 2013 were she has since lived. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1946 and attended evening classes at various colleges.
Jaynette was first employed at Schine's Glove Theatre in Gloversville. In 1957 she became Executive Secretary to the president of GTE in Johnstown, NY for many years until transferring to GTE of Southwest becoming a Human Resource Manager. She made her home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma until retiring in 1988 after 31 years with the company. She was a volunteer for many organizations like Meals on Wheels and Hospice while she lived in Oklahoma. Jaynette was of the Episcopal Faith and she enjoyed reading, bird watching and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two nephews, Gary (Thelma) Dennie of Gloversville and Jack Skakel of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; great nieces and nephews, Lori (Donald) Smith, Stephen (Barbara) Dennie, Mark (Kathy) Dennie, Ginny (Dave) Galpin and Gary (Pat) Dennie; several great, great nieces and nephews and great, great, great nieces and nephews also survive. Jaynette was predeceased by her husband Henry (Stoner) Gage and infant son, Stephen Gage, a great niece, Jennifer Dennie and siblings, June James and Betty Miller.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jaynette's memory to an animal rescue organization close to her heart called Jackson's Legacy, P.O. Box 1077, Broadalbin, NY 12025.
