Obituary of Jean M. Serviss

Mrs. Jean M. Serviss, age 89, of Gloversville, died July 19, 2016 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a brief illness. She was born October 9, 1926 in Gloversville, the daughter of Bruno and Dorothy Abbott Salomon. She worked at the former Yankee Trader in Johnstown and Wendy's Gift Shop in Mayfield. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband at his Mobil service station in Johnstown. Jean was a member of the Johnstown Women of the Moose and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She is survived by three children: Robert Serviss of Northville, Richard Serviss of New Orleans, LA and Dorothy Thobaben of Gloversville. She also leaves behind a sister, Lois Burns of Juno Beach, FL. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Richard C. Serviss in 2006 and by a daughter, Gail A. Yucha, in 1983. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service for relatives and friends will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 23rd at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 37 Division St; Amsterdam, with Rev. Neal Longe officiating. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
