Obituary of Mary Jo D'Alessandro

Mary Jo D'Alessandro, 72, of Amsterdam passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her home. Born on June 29, 1944 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Mary Derrico D'Alessandro. A lifelong resident of the area, Mary Jo graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mary Jo worked for many years for Amsterdam Printing up until her retirement. Mary Jo lived on West Main for 70 years until recently when she moved into her home on Sunset Road. Once her mom passed away in 1992, Mary Jo dedicated her time to her dad until his passing in 2012. She enjoyed going to the Inman Center weekly to play BINGO, and her monthly meetings at her Club 60 at St. Mary's. Mary Jo never really had a love for animals, but she grew to love her cousin's boxer, Jayden (JR.). She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her cousin Sarah Hayner (Shawn D. Lefever); her Aunt Norma Cozzilino; several cousins also survive, including 15 month old Shawn R. Lefever, whom she loved being able to watch grow and spend her days with. Besides her parents, Mary Jo was predeceased by several aunts and uncles, as well as her grandparents. Funeral services for Mary Jo will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam at 11am. A calling hour will be held 1 hour prior to the service starting at 10am. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
